| PURPOSE OF CLASS: | ||||||||||||
| In a State institution, substitutes on a daily basis for a regular, fulltime faculty member who is unable to perform his/her duties due to sick, personal or professional leave. | ||||||||||||
| SUPERVISION RECEIVED: | ||||||||||||
| Works under the supervision of the school principal or his/her designee. | ||||||||||||
| EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: | ||||||||||||
| Conducts lessons and other classroom activities as designed by the permanent teacher. Performs related duties as required. | ||||||||||||

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: |
||||||||||||
| Knowledge of the philosophy and methods of education; ability to deal with people. | ||||||||||||
| General Experience: | ||||||||||||
| A Bachelor's degree. | ||||||||||||
| Substitution Allowed: | ||||||||||||
| Upon the request of the Superintendent of School and under special circumstances, candidates who have not completed a bachelor's degree may serve as a substitute teacher in any one school district for the school year in random assignments and/or may substitute for up to forty days in same assignment. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, a high school graduate, have had previous experience with school age children and have an approved waiver from the State Department of Education. | SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: | ||||||||||||
| An appropriate State Department of Education teaching certificate, if/when employed in the same teaching assignment for more than forty days. | ||||||||||||
